Justice Great Dane Rescue

Why Rescues

Animal rescue groups often know their chosen breeds inside and out. They know DOGS inside and out. When working with a rescue you are provided with realistic information, rescues are not going to gloss over the important details just to make a sale, we are all here for the animals.

People often purchase puppies from breeders because they want a puppy, they want the puppy breath and the cute puppy. They don't always realize the amount of time that a puppy takes, or the fact that if not properly trained all the bad habits they found cute in their little puppies are not as cute and endearing in an adult dog. When the cuteness wears off, those people that were not fully prepared for dog ownership and not fully aware of the size and characteristics of the dog they purchased, or not financially equipped to care for their now adult puppy will sell these dogs, dump these dogs or surrender them to rescue groups. For this reason animal rescue groups are full of dogs of all ages from purebreds to mixes that need homes

Please before you go buy the cute cuddly puppy from a breeder check with your local rescue. If you are still dead set on a puppy after talking to them, let them direct you towards responsible breeders! A responsible breeder will have registered puppies (please check the validity of the registry), their animals will have been health checked against genetic conditions prior to breeder, they will usually have an application process and they will have a contract towards spay and neuter for non show dogs. You should be able to visit their homes and see where the dogs have been kept and raised. Again, before getting a puppy talk to your local rescues! We have puppies sometimes too, and ours come fully vetted!
